Live painting at events in Wrocław - art that sets your event apart
Live painting in Wrocław - live portraits at corporate events, galas and launches. See how live painting works and what you gain by organising an event with art.
· Anna Karwala
Wrocław is a city of bridges, atmospheric streets and a dynamic business scene. I work here regularly - for companies from Sky Tower, for organisers of conferences at the Centennial Hall, for couples who choose Wrocław hotels for their wedding. Live painting in Wrocław has a particular energy. The city is creative, open, and guests react to art more vividly than the average Polish audience.
In this text I’ll show you how live painting works in Wrocław conditions - what you gain, where it works, how the collaboration runs. It’s a compendium for anyone considering whether to add this format to their event programme.

What live painting at events in Wrocław is
Live painting is the process of creating works of art before the eyes of the event’s participants. I bring my whole studio - easel, watercolour or acrylic paints, palette, paper or canvas. I arrange the station so that it draws attention while blending into the event space.
Over the course of the evening I paint portraits of participants, group images of teams, pictures referring to the theme of the event. In Wrocław I often weave in local motifs - the silhouettes of the bridges, the panorama of Cathedral Island, fragments of the market square with its colourful tenements, the characteristic Wrocław dwarfs in unexpected spots of the composition.
Why choose live painting for an event in Wrocław
Live art immediately becomes the centre of attention. In the first minutes a group of curious people gathers around my easel. In the evening the same person comes back three times to check the progress. It keeps the event’s energy going through the whole evening, not just during a short block of attractions.
Participants watch the work come into being, ask questions, share impressions. Live painting is a dialogue format - unlike an artistic performance that happens on a stage, the easel is at the guests’ level. They can come over, ask, see it up close. It builds the atmosphere of the evening.
The finished pictures go to guests, organisers or serve as decoration. Every picture created over the evening has a physical form. You can hand it to a key client, an anniversary honoree, a speaker. Or keep it for the company - works end up in offices, receptions, conference rooms.
The works can include elements connected to Wrocław. The bridges, the town hall, the dwarfs, the characteristic tenements of the market square - these are motifs that add local flavour. For guests from out of town it’s an added value of the keepsake they’ll take home.
The presence of a live artist underlines the innovation and prestige of the event. Companies that choose this format communicate that they care about detail, have refined taste, invest in culture. It builds the brand’s image over the long term - unlike banners and presents.

Which events in Wrocław gain from live painting
Trade fairs and exhibitions at the Centennial Hall. The Wrocław trade fair industry is growing - from technology conferences to industry fairs. A live painting stand at a fair wins the fight for attention against any standard banner. The client comes over, stays for a dozen or so minutes, and during that time talks to your sales rep.
Corporate events - integrations, anniversaries, galas. Wrocław corporations regularly hold galas for competition winners, anniversaries of IT and finance companies, team-building events. Live painting in such formats gives the evening a layer that standard attractions can’t achieve.
Banquets and launches at the National Forum of Music. Elegant meetings at NFM, at the Wrocław Opera, in hotels by the market square - these are formats in which live painting fits perfectly. Live art is an accent that makes an impression on Polish and foreign guests.
Product launches. A picture can refer to the promoted product - its colour scheme, design, key features. It’s a visual comment on your campaign that stays long after the event itself and gives material for later marketing publications.
Weddings. Wrocław couples increasingly choose event live painting as an attraction for guests. It’s an alternative to pyrotechnic shows - giving a lasting keepsake, not just fifteen minutes of effect.
Wrocław as inspiration - how the city influences what I paint
Wrocław surrounds the artist with inspiration at every step. Cathedral Island at sunset, with the lamplighter lighting the gas lamps - a scene ready to be painted. The Centennial Hall with its reinforced-concrete dome - one of the most interesting architectural structures in Poland. The Wrocław market square with its colourful tenements - a palette no other Polish square has.
The Wrocław bridges are a motif I return to most often. Tumski Bridge with its lovers’ padlocks, Grunwaldzki Bridge, Zwierzyniecki Bridge - each has a different graphic character. I set them into portraits as a background, giving the pictures a rootedness in place.
The dwarfs are a separate topic - small sculptures, several hundred of them across the city. I often weave one dwarf into the corner of a portrait, as a wink to the viewer. Wrocław guests like it, because they recognise the cultural element. For guests from out of town it’s a curiosity they ask about.
How the live painting collaboration runs
The first conversation. I ask you about the event - the date, the venue, the number of guests, the character of the meeting, the expected style of the portraits. I check my calendar and estimate how many pictures I’ll manage to make in the time available.
The detailed briefing. We settle techniques, formats, the number of works. We decide whether the pictures should include brand elements, Wrocław motifs, or a classic portrait form. I can match the style of the work to your consistent visual communication.
The day of the event - early arrival, setting up the station. I arrive an hour and a half early. I lay out the easel, paints, set up the lighting. I check how the room’s light affects the colours on the palette - sometimes I move the station a metre to one side to avoid the yellow light of a halogen lamp.
During the event I paint pictures live, engaging the participants. During the event I paint without a break, with short pauses. I talk to the guests who come over. I arrange the finished works so they’re visible and can be viewed.
Finishing up - handing over the finished pictures as I go. Watercolours are dry immediately, acrylics need a few hours. We can arrange to hand over all the works at the end of the evening or to give them out during it - that often works better dramatically.

What you gain by choosing live painting
You gain an event format that works through the whole evening. You gain visual material for social media - a timelapse of the painting process is ready-made marketing content. You gain gifts for VIPs - better than standard business presents from the company catalogue.
You also gain an element that works for months after the event. Guests leaving Wrocław carry a picture home. They hang it at home or in the office. Every few months someone asks them: where did you get this? A conversation starts about your company, about the event, about Wrocław. It’s word-of-mouth marketing that works long after the event itself.
The most common questions from organisers in Wrocław
How much space do you need? Three square metres are enough. An easel, a small table for paints, a chair for the model.
Do you paint in unusual spaces? I’ve worked at the Centennial Hall, at NFM, in restaurants on Słodowa Island, in hotels by the market square. I need a flat floor and stable lighting.
Can the pictures include Wrocław motifs? Yes, it’s a common request. The bridges, the dwarfs, the market square, Cathedral Island - we decide at the briefing which motifs best suit the character of the event.
How many portraits are created over an evening? In postcard format - about fifteen. In A4 - eight. In A3 - four to five.
Do you work with Wrocław event agencies? Yes, regularly. I can work with an agency or directly with the end client.

Live painting
Wedding live painting or a wedding bartender, a drink bar at the wedding?
A drink bar is taste, live painting is an image. I compare both wedding attractions in terms of the keepsake's permanence, interaction and impact on the atmosphere.
Live painting
Wedding live painting or a fireworks show at the wedding?
A fireworks show lasts 15 minutes, a portrait stays for years. I compare both wedding attractions in terms of permanence, emotion, costs and their effect on guests.
