Wedding couple portrait painted from a photo - Anna Karwala

Wedding portraits from photos

A wedding portrait
that stays on the wall.

I paint a wedding portrait from your photo - the couple, a thank-you for parents, or a recreation of an old wedding photograph. A keepsake that doesn't get lost among the envelopes.

Why a wedding portrait

A wedding portrait from a photo.

A wedding portrait isn't just an enlarged photo. It's your day run through an original hand - with an emotion a plain photograph won't hold.

I paint from a photo, so you don't have to pose anywhere. A good photo is enough - yours, your parents', or an old photograph of grandparents to recreate. We settle the rest when you order.

This is a separate service from wedding live painting, where I paint guests live during the reception. A wedding portrait I paint ahead of time from a photo, so you have it ready to give on the day or hang at home.

What I paint

Wedding portraits for every occasion.

The couple, parents, an anniversary, a recreation of an old photo - a portrait for every occasion worth keeping.

  2. 02

    Thank-you portrait for parents

A thank-you portrait for the parents - both sets of parents on one painting or separately. A moving gift that stays with them for years.

  3. 03

    Wedding portrait as a gift

A portrait as a wedding gift from witnesses, family or guests. A surprise that doesn't get lost among envelopes - it ends up on the wall.

  4. 04

    Wedding anniversary portrait

A portrait for a milestone anniversary - 25, 40, 50 years together. I paint the couple from a current photo, or recreate them from their wedding photograph from years ago.

  5. 05

    Family wedding portrait

The couple together with parents or the whole family on one painting. A keepsake from the day everyone was together.

How you order

From a photo to a finished portrait.

4 steps, clear stages, a sketch to approve before the final. A good photo is enough - I take care of the rest.

  1. 01

    You send the photos

Send a wedding photo - recent or an old one to recreate. Tell me who should be in the portrait and the occasion you want to give it for.

  2. 02

We agree on details and quote

We choose the technique (watercolor or digital), format, number of people, deadline. I match the quote to what you actually need.

  3. 03

    Sketch for approval

I show a sketch or early version. You give feedback - I adjust the likeness, composition, colors - until the portrait is exactly right.

  4. 04

    I finalize and ship

I paint the final wedding portrait, frame it or prepare a canvas-ready file, and ship worldwide. You always get the digital file too.

  2. 02

    A moment from the day

The first dance, the vows, walking out of the church - I paint a specific moment from your day off a photo, not a stiff ID-style pose.

A portrait of the newlyweds hung in the hall or set on the welcome table - decor the guests notice, and you take home after the reception.

    Thank-you for the witnesses

The couple thanks their witnesses with a shared portrait from a photo - the couple together with the witnesses. A gift for standing by you on the day.

Frequently asked

A wedding portrait from a photo - questions.

The most common questions about wedding portraits. Missing something? Write to me.

01 How is a wedding portrait different from wedding live painting? +

A wedding portrait I paint ahead of time from a photo - you get a finished painting of the couple or parents to give on the wedding day or hang at home. Wedding live painting is painting live during the reception, where I paint many guests on the spot. So a wedding portrait you order in advance, while live painting you book for the day itself.

02 Can you make a wedding portrait from an old photo? +

Yes - it's a common request. I recreate old, faded wedding photos of grandparents or parents as a painted portrait. Even if the photograph is scratched or black-and-white, I paint a living portrait from it. A legible photo is enough, we work out the rest together.

03 What is a thank-you portrait for parents? +

It's a portrait of the couple's parents, painted from a photo, given as a thank-you on the wedding day or just before. It can be both sets of parents on one painting or separate portraits. A moving gesture that stays with parents long after the wedding.

04 Watercolor or digital portrait - which to choose? +

Watercolor gives a delicate, light, romantic effect - it suits classic interiors. A digital portrait is more vivid and allows larger formats and canvas printing. I'll advise when you order, considering the photo, the room and how the portrait should look on the wall.

05 How long does a wedding portrait take? +

Usually 2-4 weeks from sketch approval, depending on technique, format and number of people. If the portrait has to be ready for a specific date - an anniversary, the wedding itself - tell me upfront and I'll match the schedule. For fixed dates, order with a buffer.

06 Do you ship wedding portraits internationally? +

Yes. Wedding portraits are remote work - you send photos, I paint and ship worldwide. A framed or canvas portrait is packed safely and couriered. You always get the digital file too, so you can reprint copies for family.
