Live painting at events in Warszawa - art that delights in the capital
Live painting in Warszawa - live portraits at corporate events, galas and conferences. See how live painting works and what you gain by organising an event with art.
· Anna Karwala
Warszawa is a city where, every week, something happens that deserves an artistic comment. Industry conferences at the Palace of Culture, galas at EXPO XXI, intimate dinners in hotels by the Royal Łazienki - these are the spaces I come to with my easel and paints. Live painting in the capital has its own character. Guests are seasoned, they have a basis for comparison with other events, so they expect a format that surprises them.
I work for corporate companies, for event agencies, for organisers of international conferences. In this text I’ll show you how live painting works in Warszawa conditions and what such a solution brings to your event programme.

What live painting at events in Warszawa is
Live painting is a creative process carried out live, during the event. I bring my whole studio - easel, watercolour or acrylic paints, palette, paper or canvas. I arrange the station so that it fits naturally into the room’s space while staying visible to guests.
Over the course of the evening I paint portraits of participants, group images of teams, pictures referring to the theme of the event. In Warszawa I often weave in local motifs - the Palace of Culture and Science, the Royal Castle, the bridges over the Vistula, the silhouettes of skyscrapers from the business district. For guests from out of town it’s an added value of the keepsake.
Why choose live painting for an event in Warszawa
It stands out in a city where guests have already seen everything. In Warszawa the standard event attractions are burned out - a DJ, a photo booth, a casino with plastic chips. Live painting is a format most guests are still seeing for the first time. They react vividly, tell their friends, take photos. For the organiser that’s an advantage.
It creates interaction at a level that isn’t standard. Guests come over, ask about the technique, talk about art. They often volunteer for the “model’s chair”. It’s the kind of interaction that builds the atmosphere of the evening and costs the organiser nothing extra.
It gives a keepsake of lasting value. Every picture created over the evening is yours to own. You hand it to a key client, an anniversary honoree, a speaker - and that picture later hangs on an office or home wall for years. Every few months someone asks about it - a conversation about your company begins.
Personalisation for a specific event. We can agree that the pictures will include elements of your visual identity, campaign slogans, Warszawa motifs. Or stick to a pure portrait form - the decision is yours. Every piece is unique.
It builds the image of an aspirational brand. Companies that invite an artist to an event communicate higher-order values - care for detail, taste, investment in culture. That lifts the brand’s positioning in a way banners can’t achieve.

Which events in Warszawa gain from live painting
Conferences and industry trade fairs. Warszawa is the centre of conferences - from EFNI at the PGE National Stadium to industry technology conferences at MCK. A live painting stand at a conference works like a magnet. The client comes over, stays for a dozen or so minutes, and during that time talks to your sales rep. Conversion into a sales conversation rises significantly.
Corporate events - anniversaries, galas, integrations. Warszawa corporations regularly hold galas for winners of internal competitions, 10th, 20th and 30th company anniversaries, team-building events for departments numbering hundreds of people. Live painting in such formats works as a distinguishing element - handing a picture to an honoree makes a bigger impression than a certificate.
Banquets and business dinners. Elegant meetings at Hotel Bristol, at the Belweder, in restaurants by Krakowskie Przedmieście - these are formats in which live painting fits perfectly. Live art is an accent that makes an impression on both Polish and foreign guests.
Product launches and openings. Are you bringing a new product to the Polish or European market? Warszawa launches take place in spaces such as the Koneser Praga Centre, Norblin, EC Powiśle. Live painting referring to the product gives visual material for later marketing publications.
Diplomatic and cultural events. Warszawa embassies, cultural institutes and foundations hold events where an artistic accent is expected. Live painting in such a format fits the convention of the meeting and needs no translation for guests from other countries.
Warszawa as inspiration - how the city influences what I paint
Warszawa gives me a spectrum of visual motifs no other Polish city has. The Palace of Culture and Science - a silhouette so characteristic that a single outline in the corner of a picture makes it clear where it was made. The skyscrapers of the business district - Warsaw Spire, Skyliner, Varso - give the pictures a contemporary tone.
The Royal Łazienki and Wilanów, in turn, are a classic that fits diplomatic events or elegant hotel dinners. The bridges over the Vistula - Świętokrzyski, Poniatowski, Łazienkowski - are a rewarding motif linking the two sides of the city.
In Warszawa works I allow myself greater contrast than in Kraków or Tarnów. Here the architecture is stronger, the energy faster, the colours sharper. Clients like it - the works look “capital-city”, they carry the tempo of the city.
How the collaboration runs - step by step
The first conversation. You tell me about the event - when, where, how many guests, what character, what you want to achieve. I check my calendar and estimate how many pictures I’ll manage to paint in the time available. That’s usually one email or a short phone call.
The detailed briefing. We settle techniques, formats, the number of works. We decide whether the pictures should include brand elements, Warszawa motifs, or a classic portrait form. If you’re working on consistent visual communication, I match the style of the work to your visual identity.
The day of the event. I arrive an hour and a half early. I lay out the easel, paints, set up the lighting. During the event I paint without a break, with short pauses. I arrange the finished works so guests can view them and recognise those portrayed.
Finishing up. At the end of the evening I hand the pictures to the organiser or directly to the people portrayed. Watercolours are dry immediately, acrylics need a few hours. We can arrange collection the next day from the hotel or shipping by courier.

What you gain by inviting an artist to your event
You gain an event format that works through the whole evening, not just for fifteen minutes of a show. You gain visual material for social media - a timelapse of the painting process is ready-made content you publish for weeks after the event. You gain gifts for VIPs - better than standard business presents.
You also gain an element that can’t be measured in numbers. Guests leaving Warszawa carry a picture home. They hang it at home, in the office, in their study. After a few months someone asks them: where did you get this? A conversation starts - about your company, about the event, about Warszawa. It’s word-of-mouth marketing that works for months after the event itself.
The most common questions from organisers in Warszawa
Do you need a big station? Three square metres are enough. An easel, a small table for paints, a chair for the model. I can be set up in a corner of the room or by the entrance.
Do you need special lighting? I prefer daylight or soft spot lighting. If the room is heavily dimmed, I bring my own lamp.
Do you paint only portraits? Most often yes. I can also create group scenes, motifs connected to the company, city panoramas. We decide at the briefing.
How many portraits are created over an evening? In postcard format - about fifteen. In A4 - eight. In A3 - four to five.
Do you work with event agencies? Yes, regularly. I can collaborate directly with an agency or with the end client - it depends on the billing arrangement.

Live painting
Wedding live painting or a wedding bartender, a drink bar at the wedding?
A drink bar is taste, live painting is an image. I compare both wedding attractions in terms of the keepsake's permanence, interaction and impact on the atmosphere.
Live painting
Wedding live painting or a fireworks show at the wedding?
A fireworks show lasts 15 minutes, a portrait stays for years. I compare both wedding attractions in terms of permanence, emotion, costs and their effect on guests.
