About Bujnowłosej

Illustration has the power to communicate

Each project I implement is more than just a visual composition. I strive to ensure that my works not only please the eye, but also have an impact on how we feel and what we experience.

I believe that art has an extraordinary power to communicate and express what often cannot be expressed in words – it is this power that I want to express in my projects.

Custom portraits

Unlike simply copying from a photo, I create illustrative narrative portraits, highlighting both the physical and invisible features of a person’s character. My works are distinguished by a unique style that focuses on bringing out the best, often with humor and distance.

Live painting

Live painting is a unique form of artistic entertainment that adds an unforgettable character to every event. During a wedding, corporate event, fair or other celebration, I create live portraits, involving guests in the process of creating art. This form of attraction not only attracts attention and provides entertainment, but also leaves participants with unique, tangible souvenirs.

Book illustrations

The illustration of the entire book is not only a decoration, but a key element supporting the content and creating a unique atmosphere of the story. Thanks to properly selected illustrations, the reader becomes more immersed in the story, and the book becomes more accessible and attractive.

Hand-painted mugs

Each mug is a unique work of art, created using special, durable ceramic paints, resistant to washing and temperature. Painting on a mug allows me to transfer my illustrations to a three-dimensional object, which makes each design unique. Even if I copy the design, no mug will be identical, which adds value to it.

Expert's Eye - Illustration

That is, what illustration is.

By definition, an illustration is an image inextricably linked to text, which it complements, explains, supports, or decorates. In practice… illustration thrives quite well outside of books. So where, then, lies the boundary between illustration and painting?

For me, illustration always carries a narrative quality, whether simple or complex. A second coexisting feature—either simultaneous or separate—is its descriptive or presentational function, aimed at explaining or visualizing a concept. Additionally, in most cases, illustration employs graphic, drawing, or partially painterly techniques. In short, it is more a creation of imagination or nature-inspired artistry rather than a perfect replica. Today, realistic and accurate representation is undeniably dominated by color photography.

As I mentioned before, illustration has leapt out of books, though it remains abundant there too—especially in children’s literature, where it is always essential. Today, illustration adorns packaging, objects, and is particularly popular in the fashion industry. Social media also eagerly embraces illustration. No business wants to appear outdated, even in its visual identity. Through all this, art—and the awareness that we need it daily in our lives, not just in galleries—is being popularized… because illustration is like a small art form right beside us. The broad application of illustration doesn’t stop at charming animals; it works equally well for educational or informational purposes. An image always has a stronger impact than words, is more memorable, and—most importantly—universal in every language!

I enjoy drawing in various styles and techniques, but I feel most at home in the aesthetics of children’s illustration. Rather than depicting things literally, I interpret them through my own lens. I translate the situations I experience, the events, thoughts, and emotions into the world of my characters. My illustrations are created using a range of techniques, from paper sketches to digital screen work. However, I feel most connected to hand-drawn art, with a brush or pencil in hand. I love the boundless possibilities these traditional media offer for endless experimentation. The constant opportunity to discover something new keeps me learning and growing. When creating digital pieces, I strive to mimic the spontaneity of sketching on paper while also embracing the unique tools and possibilities a computer provides.

Something more about Design.

Graphic design is something that accompanies us in life even more frequently than illustration. To realize this, just look around. Sitting in my room (without even leaving my chair!), I counted 20 logos around me—and what if I peeked into all the cabinets?

Today, every company, no matter how small, wants to stand out from the competition. Just as you’d dress appropriately for a job interview, a company should be “dressed” in a fitting visual identity. Why? For the same reason: to present itself as polished and professional. Graphic design isn’t just logos and business cards. It’s a spectrum of actions, some artistic, some pragmatic. Even the most avant-garde designer must still grasp certain principles and create with intentionality.

As I mentioned, we’re now surrounded by graphic design everywhere. It’s become utterly mundane. Advertising finds it increasingly difficult to astonish or persuade us when it relies on recycled, tried-and-tested formulas. We shouldn’t discard what works entirely, but sometimes it’s worth breaking the mold and daring to try something entirely new, unconventional. Those are the things people talk about—and in advertising, buzz is the goal.

Cohesive, aesthetically-driven graphic design is the calling card of every brand. Carefully chosen colors, typography, and composition craft a unique character that’s etched into memory. Investing in professional graphic design isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s a strategic tool for building brand recognition and enhancing its market value.

Even in design, every graphic artist has their own style. Since I devote the most attention to illustration and feel most at home in it, this naturally influences how I think when designing. I thrive in free-spirited projects where I can weave in a hand-drawn, imperfect aesthetic. But when a project demands raw or minimalist forms, I approach it the same way I compose a drawing—arranging elements and selecting colors as if working on paper. I blend these two worlds and don’t worry about whether it leans more toward graphic design or illustration. I aim to stay boundless. That’s just my way of doing things.
